Who remembers Pretty Acres, and did you know that when it opened, it had motel units? (8 or 10 if I remember correctly)
My father built the course in part for his love of golf, but mostly for his Mother Angelina.
As a kid, we lived on the property twice. The main house had a large kitchen downstairs for Mama Prima to show off her culinary skills for guests, a great room, and 4 motel rooms. The rest of the rooms were behind the house. The upstairs was home!
My mom, refurbished and ran the golf course from 1983 until 1995 when the property was sold. It’s a Walmart and Home Depot now, and a few other businesses and homes.
If your traveling along Highway 190 into Covington, look for Louis Prima Drive, that was the main entrance and driveway to our home.
